UPCOMING PERFORMANCE
Sunday, May 19, 2024
Pullo Center for Distinguished Young Women event

YCHC alumni have an opportunity to come together for special performances when their schedule allows.

Since the Honors Choirs were founded in 1998, there have been more than 1,000 singers who have participated in the Junior and Senior Honors Choirs. The original members of the first 60-voice choir have performed several times for that celebration. Following the final concert, many singers asked if they could continue for another year. That was the beginning of a tradition that brought together alumni for special appearances in beautiful venues and churches in York County, New York City, Washington, DC, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Annapolis, Baltimore, Providence, London, and Paris.

The tradition of excellence and leadership continues. The Alumni Choir has performed for the 10th, 15th, 20th, and 25th anniversaries of the Honors Choirs. Future plans include many more opportunities for past members of the Honors Choirs to reunite and extend the legacy of beautiful singing that they helped to create.

The Alumni Choir is directed by Randy Yoder and Michal Buchanan.

TO SIGN UP

The Alumni Choir encourages interested alumni to opt in to communications with YCHC and stay in touch by providing contact information so we can inform about upcoming opportunities. There is no obligation to come back and sing (though we hope you will at some point!).

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Randy Yoder, Founding Senior Honors Choir Director and Alumni Choir Director, spent 35 years as the choral director at Northeastern and William Penn High Schools and  is currently the Director of Music at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in York and adjunct professor of piano at York College of PA.

“I had a couple of solos when I was a kid and the confidence I learned when I needed to stand up there by myself and perform really translated throughout my life and allowed me to take on the world. The YCHC is really rooted in my childhood and why it’s still such a big part of my life today.”
