Welcome to the website of the York County, Pennsylvania, Junior and Senior Honors Choirs. We are pleased to be celebrating the 10th anniversary season of the Junior Honors Choir, and the 14th season of the Senior Honors Choir.
The York County Honors Choirs’ 2011-12 season is another outstanding year for the choirs!
The holiday season featured three major events – the Junior Honors Choir Synergy Vocal Ensemble sang with the David Benoit Quartet in the heart-warming “A Charlie Brown Christmas” on Dec. 4, the Senior Honors Choir participated in a wonderful concert with the River City Brass on Dec. 17, and special performances by Junior Honors Choir Alumni kicked off the 10th Anniversary Season in an amazing showcase on Dec. 29.
Our opening concerts for the new year beginning in early February showcased a great season, including many concerts, festivals and programs, culminating in our sold-out season finale concert on June 3.
We are very proud of our Senior Honors Choir's Concorde Vocal Ensemble, selected to perform for the American Choral Directors Association Eastern Division Conference on February 16, at the historic Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Providence, Rhode Island, joining highly regarded groups from all over the eastern United States.
Another exciting event this year was the 4th Annual York County Elementary Choral Festival held on March 24, hosted by Eastern York School District. Coordinated by Junior Honors Choir Director, Donna Knott, the festival included over 300 York County elementary students participating under the direction of Angela Machi Evans of the Children’s Festival Chorus of Pittsburgh.

We are pleased to feature Mr. and Mrs. Louis J. Appell, Jr. as this season’s special supporters. The Appells, known for their generous community involvement, have been special friends of the Honors Choirs organization since its founding 14 years ago. They join together to speak in high praise of the Honors Choirs’ impact on the quality of life in York County and the outstanding experience it provides to so many students from all over the county. We praise their generosity and thank them for their continued support of our program. They have helped us to grow, to travel, to perform, and to lift our voices. They are truly very special to us.
