ABOUT OUR JUNIOR HONORS CHOIR

JHC welcomes singers in grades 7 through 9, representing schools and communities across York County.

Established in 2002, our Junior Honors Choir is a choral performance and music education program, composed of singers in grades 7 to 9. Singers are selected through audition from York County public and private school districts, homeschools, churches, and voice studios.

In addition to performances in venues across York County, the group has been invited to perform in Heinz Chapel, the Naval Academy Chapel, New Bethel Baptist Church in Washington DC, American Choral Directors Eastern Division and State Conferences, PA Music Educators State Conference and the Music Education Department of Penn State University.

By participating in the Junior Honors Choir, students enrich their own music education and develop leadership skills that they can take to their schools and other areas of their lives.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

RACHEL MORGAN IM was named Conductor of the York County Junior Honors Choir in 2022. Her full-time position is as Artistic Director of the Children’s Chorus of Maryland and School of Music. She also conducts two auditioned choirs for the Children’s Chorus of Carroll County in MD. A school music teacher from 2005-2020, Rachel earned elite recognition as Teacher of the Year 2015 Finalist for Carroll County Public Schools.

What’s great about YCHC is that the music is more challenging than what you get in your school ensemble. It allows the kids to be challenged and grow a little more.
