April 9

Dear Senior Honors Choir,

Sunday was such a beautiful concert filled with so many special moments. I truly meant it when I mentioned to the audience that there were a few moments when all I wanted to do was just stop conducting and take in your beautiful sound. You are very special!!

With those moments also came some challenging ones, so I encourage you to please take a listen and practice the transition from measure 48 to 49 on page 9 of Lacrimosa. Besides that section, things sounded really nice the rest of the piece. If we’re able to get that transition we will be in good shape for the rest of our concerts.

Information for this Sunday, April 14th
We will be at Messiah University and work with Dr. Joy Meade, some of her students, and we will perform in their recital hall. The concert is open and free to the public, so feel free to share the date and time with your friends and family. The schedule for that day is as follows:

  • Call Time - 1:45pm

  • Welcome and Workshop with Dr. Meade - 2:00-2:50pm

  • Short Break - 2:50-3:00pm

  • Session with Messiah Students - 3:00-3:40pm

  • Snack Break - 3:40-4:10pm

  • Concert - 4:15-5:00pm

When you arrive at Messiah University’s campus, follow directions for the Calvin and Janet High Center for Worship and Performing Arts, and inside of the building the logistics coordinators will guide you to the entrance of Parmer Hall. This is a beautiful hall that seats 800+ audience members, so please feel free to invite as many people as you want to the concert!

Parents, I know some of you will be bringing your student for the call time, and might wait around until the concert. If you bring a book, or something to keep you occupied while waiting, I will make sure there is a space where you can wait while we are doing the workshops so that you don’t have to go back home and return later for the concert if you do not wish to do that.

Students, please bring a snack in a disposable container for when we have our snack break between 3:40-4:10pm. Don’t forget to bring your water bottle!

Dr. Meade and her students are really looking forward to working with us. I believe this will be a great experience for us!

April 28th Announcement
After receiving many conflict notifications about this date, from Encore to school performances, I have determined that we will not have enough of a quorum to hold a productive rehearsal. So, we will cancel the rehearsal on April 28th.

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Carlos Casilla
